DR KATARINA MILETIĆ

"Non-invasive Optical Spectroscopy in Plant Stress Research: Circadian Rhythm as a Diagnostic Marker"

Dr Katarina Miletić is a Research Associate at the Faculty of Physics, University of Belgrade, specializing on the development of spectroscopic methods for their practical application in plant research. She obtained her PhD in Physics, focusing on non-invasive optical techniques for monitoring plant health and metabolism analysis. Her previous research, supported by Serbian Innovation Fund, led to development of the Nondestructive Optical Method for Plant Overall Health Evaluation.

Dr Miletić is currently the team leader of the Phymesti research team, which recently awarded the first place at the BIOS In-Cube innovation competition organised by the BioSense Institute (2024). She has published extensively in scientific journals and actively participates in international conferences, wining several prices, including the Best Paper Award at the 6th International Symposium on Agricultural Engineering (Belgrade, 2023), the Best Oral Presentation at the STED 2024, and the Best Young Researcher at the Faculty of Physics (2022–2023).

In addition to her research, Dr Miletić is dedicated to mentoring young researchers, as well as master's and doctoral students at the Faculty of Physics, University of Belgrade.

In her invited lecture at the STED conference, Dr Miletić will present the practical applications of the innovative optical technologies developed by the Phymesti team, highlighting their potential to improve the assessment of plant health assessment and agricultural sustainability.
