Quality management is the basis for the well organized event. It is the key in creating the image of the company, city and everyone who runs it; therefore it is necessary to do the best job possible. Often we attend an event, without thinking how it was made. This is where the management of events begins. There are different types of events, but everyone of them has the same goal - to attract more people. Event management is today a very profitable business, and because of that it bears major financial risks. The duties of organizing events include employing competent and well organized event managers who are not allowed to make mistakes because the event is a unique moment. The event may last one day, but the management of the event is a time consuming process that requires a well thought strategy, a lot of energy and effort to make the final product look perfect. The purpose of the paper is to explain what event management is and what that term covers. Accordingly, the aim of this paper is an example to show how the management of events looks like and what is needed to make it successful. The paper explains the definition, characteristics and types of events, and presents concrete examples of events in Croatia. The organization of these events is shown in the example of Vukovar Film Festival and Theatre Ulysses Brijuni. Methods that are used to create the work are: inductive method in the analysis of individual data and perform a conclusion on that basis. It is also used the method of analysis and description of defining certain terms in order to understand the problem and the method of comparison to concrete examples.
