Abstract

 Modern enterprises have recognized the necessity of quality and efficient management of maintenance in technical systems, but also its role in achieving competitive advantage. Since the company’s efficiency on the market depends on its internal effectiveness, there is no doubt that the management of maintenance is an indispensable part of successful business strategy of each company. The fact is that the technical systems for production are being more and more mechanised and automated implying that their work is more reliable, which is why maintenance is getting increasingly more important, it can also be said that maintenance in modern business is a process which enables management of technical systems and their reliability during the entire life cycle of the system. Preventive maintenance is considered particularly important due to the fact that it can be executed at a defined maintenance plan, and it affects significantly positive on the level of operational availability and reliability of technical systems, but also the longevity of their life cycle.
