Abstract

In the competitive environment, in order to prevail, the enterprises must continuously change and develop. This path must also be taken by Serbian enterprises, because it is the only way that leads to the accession to the economy of European community, and that means survival and stabilization in development. As this paper points out, the position of Serbian economy in comparison to more developed ones is still unenviable, which is why the creation of stable national business environment is an important prerequiste for a larger influx of foreign investments, economic growth and competitiveness improvement. The creation of favorable business environment is necessary for a more innovative business climate, where the role of important strategic initiator will be taken by professional and proactive management and entrepreneurship. Only those enterprises that are ready for gaining new skills and knowledge and continuous innovation of both final products and production processes, can count on a more favorable position in the market. Managers must be capable of identifying and understanding the basic megatrends of contemporary development, i.e. of change, and wherever possible, generate and mobilize potential for future change.
